John Roy Emerson, 76, of Lawrenceburg TN, loved God deeply and cherished his family above all else. John had an adventurous heart, and his faith in God carried him to many countries throughout South America and Asia, where he made his home for a significant portion of his life. He was a talented musician who shared his love of music with his children, teaching them to play instruments and encouraging them to play music together as a family. John had a remarkable mind for mathematics, creating, and inventing. His curiosity about the world around him never faded, and he continued to learn and create until his last day.
John is survived by his loving wife, Joan; his children, Michael, Jason, Eden, Richard, Daniel, Samuel, Karen, Sharon, Timothy, and Gabriel; 17 grandchildren and multiple greatgrandchildren; and siblings, Barbara, Patsy, Larry, and Carol. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gail and Ruth Emerson; his children, Jonathan and Anthony; and his brother Roger. John’s life touched many people and took him to many places. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever a part of his family’s legacy.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30am on Nov. 22, 2026 at 450 Bumpas Cemetery Road, Lawrenceburg, TN 38464. A reception will follow at the Parlor at David Crocket State Park.
