Janet Kathleen Waters Colter was born January 22, 1953, to Bryan and Dorothy Waters. She was a homemaker for many years, raising her children and serving the church. Later, she enjoyed a career as an administrative assistant at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and then worked from home as a legal coder until her health rendered her unable to work.
Janet experienced her share of tragedy and pain throughout her life, sometimes as a result of her own imperfections, but she never let these obstacles define her. She deeply loved her kids and loved her grandkids even more. Her testimony was a story of redemption and truly living in the grace of God. She was an example of a servant's heart for anyone in need, whether it was teens in ARTreach or the homeless served at Jesus Place. She loved trivia, puzzles, all things British, a good mystery, and a terrible pun.
Janet is survived by her four children, Kelly (Brian) Bera, Adam (Sara) Colter, Katie (Joe) Poynter, and AJ (Virginia) Colter, and her nine grandchildren, Kaliese, Kal, Braedyn, Kadyn, Jesse, Kamden, Jude, Jackson, and Jonas. She is preceded in death by her parents Bryan and Dorothy Waters, her sister Donna, and her brother, Richard.
