James Allan (Jim) Hubenthal, age 81, of Canton, Georgia, passed away Thursday February 27, 2025 peacefully with family at his side. Jim was the son of Harry and Bernice Hubenthal and the brother of Sandra Sams, who all preceded him in death. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Engquist Hubenthal and they spent nearly 60 wonderful years together. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia, his daughters and sons in law whom he dearly loved, Tracy and Tom Morrell, and Kristin and Scott Jackson, and his grandchildren who brought him so much joy, Andrew, Cameron, and Garrett Morrell, Tanner (wife Mallory), Luke (wife Chandler), and Sara Jackson, and his great grandsons, Everett, Owen, and Rory Jackson.
Jim was a 1961 graduate of Taft High School, Chicago, IL and earned his bachelor’s degree in 1965 from Lake Forest College, Lake Forest, IL, where he played football and was an active member of Phi Pi Epsilon fraternity. He began his working career at Electran Manufacturing, the company his father founded. He was a senior leader in several companies including his own, where, animated by God’s love, he sought to serve both employees and customers well.
Everyone who knew him knew that he loved God as he spent his life loving and ministering to others, most of all to his family and friends. Over the years, he lived in community in many ways, as a church elder, Stephen Minister, Bible study leader and in small groups. Jim loved with a generous, discerning, and compassionate heart often giving sacrificially to others with a smile that radiated love you could see in his eyes and feel in your heart.
Words cannot express how much he will be missed. All are welcome at the celebration of his life and love at 1pm on Saturday March 15th 2025 at Canton First Baptist Church with fellowship after the service. Please feel free to share memories on note cards at the service or online.
