Curtis was born on November 4, 1955, in Austell, Georgia. He attended Cherokee High School, where he met his sweetheart, Sharon Hardy, and was married for 50 years. He later began his career with Atco Goodyear Tire and Rubber as their maintenance man and retired after 27 years of service. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.

In his free time, Curtis enjoyed going to the Tennessee mountains and was always eager to get away whenever he could. He was also eager to share his faith with others and to pray with them whenever they needed it. He was always humble and kind. He was an active member of his church, becoming a deacon with the Church of God of Prophecy in 1997.
Curtis is survived by his loving wife Sharon Hardy; of 50 years, his son, James Matthew Hardy (and wife, Heather Hardy), and their children, Angela, Lora, and Ian; and his son, Noah Mark Hardy (and wife, April Hardy), and their children, Noah and Elizabeth. His sister Glenda Dale Browning and brother Russell T. Hardy (and wife, Patty Hardy) with a host of niece and nephews. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
