In 1965, she married John Barry Holtz, with whom she shared a devoted partnership until his passing in 2010. They made their home in Middleton, Massachusetts, beginning in 1967, where they raised their family and Gretchen furthered her career in nursing. As a certified nurse practitioner specializing in gerontology, Gretchen dedicated her professional life to ensuring the elderly received compassionate, comprehensive care. Her work left a lasting impact on countless individuals and families.
In 2016 Gretchen embraced a new chapter of life in Flowery Branch, Georgia. She became an integral part of the Sterling on the Lake community, where she was known for her warmth, intelligence, and unbeatable card-playing skills. She took part in a wide range of activities including plays, murder mystery events, coffee klatches, Bible study, and her beloved card groups. Her energy and humor were matched only by her deep faith and sense of service.
