Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on September 1, 1941, Betty went on to build a life centered around her faith and her family. In 1960, she married the love of her life, Victor Ilen. Together, they spent most of their adult lives in Florida, raising their family in Tampa and sharing a deep bond until Victor’s passing in 2014.
Following the loss of her husband, Betty relocated to Cumming, Georgia, to be closer to her loved ones. She remained in the Cumming area for the rest of her years, surrounding herself with family and community.
A woman of deep faith, Betty dedicated time to volunteering with the Salvation Army. Her connection to prayer was profound and felt by everyone who knew her—it always felt like a prayer from Betty carried special weight and truly meant something.
In her free time, Betty delighted in crafting alongside her family and cherished the time spent with friends at the Senior Center in Cumming, GA.
She is survived by her four children: Vickie Olsen, April Ilen, Rocky Ilen, and Scott Padilla, her grandchildren Lizzy and Ashley, her son-in-law Neil Olsen, as well as extended family members and friends who will miss her warmth and faithful presence.
This poem, written by Betty is dedicated to her memory
HIS TENDERNESS
Father of this world
Looking down at his creation
With his loving eyes
Caring for his children
The pathway is narrow
He knows your tomorrow
Come to me my children
Your faithfulness is needed
