Dorothy's life was marked by her warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family and community. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1957 and attended Fenn College in Cleveland, Ohio, majoring in Business. For 45 years, she managed the Nordonia Hills Clinic, a six-doctor family practice in Sagamore Hills. Dorothy was an active member of the Medical Group Management Association and the Professional Association of Health Care Office Managers.
She lived for over 20 years in Medina, Ohio, where she embraced her community, family, and friends. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed tennis, swimming, biking, and running. In 1983, she faced a significant challenge when she lost her right arm to cancer—a diagnosis many predicted was impossible to survive. Undeterred, she learned to play racquetball left-handed to help her change dominant sides and became a champion singles and doubles player at 13th Street Racquet Club. In 1986, Cleveland Magazine spotlighted her as one of the 88 most interesting people in Cleveland.
Dorothy moved to Gainesville, Georgia, in November 2022 to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Family gatherings meant the most to her, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Her gentle spirit and unwavering optimism touched the lives of many, leaving a legacy of love and compassion.
She is survived by her loving family, including her daughters Linda Jackson (Todd) and Kelley Wetta (Scott); stepchildren Dana Cummings and Jolie Cummings; sister Eunice McCrae; grandchildren Raechel Jolie, Ryan Jackson (Xareny), Olivia Guretta (Walker), Emily Jackson, Hailey Pachciarz (Nolan), and Claire Wetta; great-grandchildren Eliza Guretta, Everly Pachciarz, and Remi Pachciarz; nieces Desirae Powell and Leslie Hansen (Darien); and nephews Rodney Hutter (Wendy) and Keith Hutter. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Robert Cummings, and her sisters Margaret Powell and Harriet Monhardt.
A private Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held later this year. She will be laid to rest in Spring Grove Cemetery in Medina, Ohio, along with her beloved Bob. "We were a team."
Dorothy's family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of Northeast Georgia for their care and support during this time. The next time you are asked, please give a donation to the American Cancer Society or the Salvation Army in her memory.
