Donald “Buddy” Day passed away on October 27, 2026, following a difficult battle with cancer. Though his family and friends are heartbroken by his passing, they find comfort in knowing that his faith in Jesus Christ helped carry him through his final days.
Buddy was preceded in death by Peggy, Donna, and Wanda. He leaves behind his life partner, Debra Hughes; his children, Donny (Marla) Day, Bridgette Holland, and Bryan (Sarah) Day; his siblings, Dianna Howe, George (Carlene) Day, and Ginger (Michael) Porter; and his many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He will also be remembered by the many people whose lives he touched through his kindness and willingness to help others.
Originally from Miami, Florida, Buddy was a hardworking man who took pride in his work as a home remodeling contractor. He was known for his willingness to help anyone and everyone, never hesitating to lend a hand when someone was in need. His generosity and strong work ethic were defining parts of who he was.
Family was an important part of Buddy’s life. He especially enjoyed family gatherings, firing up the grill and cooking for everyone to enjoy. These gatherings created treasured memories that will continue to bring comfort to those who shared them with him.
Buddy took great pride in being a grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with all his grandchildren and took every opportunity to spoil them rotten. The time they spent together and the memories they made will remain a meaningful part of his family’s story for generations to come.
Outside of family life, Buddy enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams and watching the sports he loved. He was a devoted Georgia Bulldogs college football fan and supported the Denver Broncos in the NFL. He also enjoyed NASCAR, especially the No. 20 car driven by Christopher Bell, and WWE wrestling. Whether watching a game, following a race, or gathering around the grill, Buddy knew how to enjoy his favorite pastimes.
Buddy leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, family traditions, and countless memories. His presence will be deeply missed, especially during the family gatherings and everyday moments that meant so much to him. Though his time here has ended, the lessons he taught, the kindness he shared, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A life well lived, a family forever changed, and memories that will never fade.
A Celebration of Life for Donald “Buddy” Day will be announced at a later date.
