David Frederick Morris

David, the eldest of four children, was born in Burlington, Vermont, on November 15th, 1946 to Winston and Patricia (Tasker) Morris.

David came from a very close family. His siblings and he had a very memorable childhood. Summers were spent camping on Lake Winnipesauke in New Hampshire. They would leave the day school let out for the summer and returned home the night before school started in the fall. David was an excellent water skier as were his siblings. They traveled from Canada to The Great Lakes in their family boat, “The Tasmor”. Winters were spent at their home in Needham, MA, where they were involved in school activities and spending time with friends. The entire family were avid snow skiers. They had so many “special” memories and all were captured via movie or photos by his parents! When his siblings visited last month they all enjoyed watching and narrating some of their childhood movies.

David graduated from Needham High School, class of 1965, and Bryant College, class of 1971. He learned his trade while working his way through college. He was employed by landlords owning more than 100 properties, doing remodeling and repairs. He went on to become a construction project manager, working out of Westborough and Newton, MA. David did public bid projects such as the Andover, MA, library and the Marlboro, MA, police station. After moving to Georgia, he started his own home remodeling company, DF Morris Construction Services. He was a very talented woodworker and had many loyal customers who appreciated his talents and praised his work. His entire business was built by word of mouth.

For many years he was a member of the Greater Gwinnett Rose Society. At one time he had over 150 rosebushes and he entered many in rose shows, winning numerous ribbons. People came from miles away just to admire his gardens.

David loved to talk. He’d go to the hardware store and be gone for hours running into someone who needed help with a project. He’d brag to anyone that would listen about how smart his pups are. He was the morning treat man and Cooper and Abby will miss his pats and belly rubs.

In addition to his wife of 38 years, who will miss him dearly, he is survived by his sister, Carolyn Eldridge of Littleton, CO; two brothers, Stephen and his wife Jill, of Alexandria, VA, and Dana of Georgetown, CO. His childhood friend, Ron Northover of Hampstead, NH. Four Daughter, Kristen and husband Joshua, of Houston, TX; Laura (who was born on David’s birthday) and husband Andrew, of Gastonia, NC; Barbara and husband Raymond Damaso, of North Providence, RI; and step-daughter, Jennifer Voiles, of Salem, MA. As well as nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no services. His ashes will be scattered by his family at a later date.
