She was born April 15, 1941 at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, GA, of parents Joseph and Frances Bruce and graduated from Avondale High School.
Survived by husband Mark Albert, PT of Atlanta, GA. and by four children from her late ex-husband Jerry Hairston: Pam (David) Hicks of Dacula, GA., Jerry Hairston Jr. of Hendersonville, NC., Gwen (David) Lyle of Gainesville, GA. and Bruce (Peggy) Hairston of Hendersonville, NC. She is also survived by sister, Edwina (Bob) McMahon of Gainesville and brother, Milton (Mary) Bruce of Gainesville, GA.
She has five grand-children: Jenny Keiger of Lawrenceville, GA., Sarah Lyle of Kennesaw, GA., Melissa (Nick) Weatherby of Marietta, Stephen Hicks of Dacula, GA. and step grandson Nik (Jenny) Hicks of Colleyville, TX. She also has seven great-grandchildren: Norah and Isla Weatherby, Marietta, GA., Hope Hairston and Shelby Hairston of Asheville, NC., and Jacob, Andrew and Benjamin Keiger of Lawrenceville, GA., in addition to several nieces and nephews.
Clella had a successful career in retail management, retiring as Vice-President, Director of Stores for Storehouse, Inc in 1998. She then relocated to Rancho Mirage, CA. following retirement for a decade, before returning to Atlanta in 2013. Her interests included enjoying her grand-children, dancing, travel to four continents, including visits to Canada, Mexico and the Cayman Islands and golf. She also loved the southwestern style of art, with a special affinity for the beauty of Sedona, AZ and Santa Fe, NM.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Plans for a celebration of life are pending.
