Bertha Dell Smith Shaw, affectionately known as “Bert,” passed away on December 11, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of 72. Born September 7, 1953, in Alexandria, Louisiana, she spent most of her adult life in Slidell, Louisiana.
She will be remembered for her intelligence, generosity, warm smile, and the joy she brought to others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorenza and Cleo Dell Smith, and brothers Garland and Lorenza Smith. She is survived by brothers Melvin Carrington and Don Winston, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and church family.
A memorial service will be held on January 17, 2026 at 11am at Starlight Missionary Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Dementia Societies in her honor.
