Our matriarch, Arlene, was a beautiful free spirit, fierce and quick-witted, who taught us to dance, to soar, to reach for the stars while standing in our convictions. She took every opportunity to instill in us to be open minded, compassionate, and to never quit. Gram imparted her passion for learning in all its forms and experiences, with an appreciation of all the arts and a sense of wonder. In her life, she was an active member of St. Andrew’s Church in San Antonio, TX and then Hamilton Mill United Methodist in Hamilton Mill, GA. She was active in community service assisting local food banks and adult reading programs. Arlene loved to travel, experiencing the vibrancy of life and people through music, art and culture.

She is survived by children Patricia Bohn and husband Robert Brough, Cynthia Alexander and husband Ronnie, John Zarate and wife Franny, James Zarate, and Michelle Jimenez and husband Jesse.
