Raymond J. Ferro

Raymond “Sonny” Ferro, 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday March 20th, at Avon Health Center. He was born on May 29,1938 in Bristol CT to the late Joseph and Martha Ferro. Ray was well respected in the equestrian community both as a judge and as a horseman. He took great pride in his accomplishments in and out of the horse show ring. Ray was a lifelong carpenter and avid country line dancer. You could always find Ray and his lovely wife Jean cutting the rug on the dance floor. Ray was predeceased by his son Randy and his late wife Jean "Vaillancourt" Ferro whom he shared 63 years of marriage. It is comforting to know he is reunited with those he loved. Ray had a great sense of humor and infectious smile. He kept those till the very end. Ray is survived by his sister Joanne Chiron of Frisco, Texas, his daughter Jennifer Fox (Christopher Maher) of Avon CT, grandchildren Jeremy Ferro, Bryant Ferro, Trevor Fox (Devon Atkins) and Leah Fox, two great grandchildren, many cousins, and other beloved relatives. The family would like to thank Avon Health Center for the care and compassion they showed Ray in his final days. There will be memorial graveside service celebrating his life on his Birthday May 29, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Bristol, CT.
