Jim leaves his beloved wife of 62 years, Patricia (Warnock) Shanley, they met at a dance at LaSalle Academy when they were both 17; a daughter, Colleen Loveless and her husband, Donald of Windsor Locks, CT, a son, Kerry Shanley and his wife ThanhThuy of Bala Cynwyd, PA; Four adored grandchildren, who knew him by the name of "Bumpa"; Kelsey Loveless of London, U.K., Taylor Loveless of New York, NY, Nolan and Mai-Linh Shanley of Bala Cynwyd, PA. Previously deceased by his parents, James and Catherine (Foley) Shanley
Jim dearly loved and enjoyed his family and traveling. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and just received his Irish Citizenship this past January. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and UCONN Men’s and Women’s Basketball.
Jim was a 1954 graduate of LaSalle Academy in Providence, RI, a graduate of Bryant University in Smithfield, RI and Western New England University, Springfield, MA. He was employed as a Marketing Manager for the American Dairy Association, National Sales Manager for Rexcel, Inc. and previously with Quaker Oats, Lipton Tea, and Morris Alper, Inc.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Naval Reserves after serving 8 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield, MA, and loved Msgr. George Farland and the beautiful choir.
His family wishes to heartily thank Dr. Josh Croen and his wonderful team of nurses and staff who tried so hard to save him and also the caring and loving staff at the Suffield House who treated Jim on his rehab visits there.
