With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved parents Harold Tessier, 88, and Lyla Light Tessier, 84, of Glastonbury, Connecticut. Harold passed on December 14; followed by Lyla on December 16, after a devoted marriage of 65 years. The perfect ending to their love story.
They began their life together in East Hartford, Connecticut and built a life on the values of family, friends and their faith. They enjoyed hosting family and friends for holidays and other special occasions. They were actively involved in their church community at Blessed Sacrament Church.
Harold worked for over three decades at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in the assembly plant and was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Lyla was a stay-at-home Mom until their daughters were in high school. She then worked in various administrative positions and enjoyed crafting, baking and doing puzzles. Upon their retirement they were snowbirds in Florida and travelled extensively.
They are survived by their two daughters and a son-in-law; Cheryl Armstrong and Linda and Steve Veronesi. They were Pappy and Grammy to their four grandchildren; Eric Armstrong and his wife Jaci, Brian Veronesi, Keith Veronesi and his wife Jill, Olivia Veronesi and her partner, Greg Kaliszewski. In addition, they were great grandparents to Avery and Morgan Armstrong and Jack and Weston Veronesi.
They are also survived by two loving sisters; Gloria Gagnon and Jeanne Shellington, a niece, Leeanne Callahan, who had a special bond with them and was Lyla’s companion over the last year. A special thank you to the team at Addison place where they have resided for the last four years. The family would like to extend a special gratitude to Colleen Leslie who helped in their care over the years.
A private service will be held for the immediate family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
