Dana J. Maccio, 66, of East Haddam, CT passed away on September 7, 2024. He was the husband of Joel R. Ide, also of East Haddam. Born May 24, 1958 in Southington, he was the son of the late Dominic "Tony"
Maccio and the late Dolores "Dodie" (Limmer) Maccio. Besides his husband, he leaves many cousins, three siblings, Marla Wayton (Paul) of Southington, Mark Maccio (Lynn Hart) of Maine and Karen Zakrewski (Richard) of Plantsville; five nieces and nephews; Kevin Derynioski (Kathrine Butterfield), Catherine Kennedy (Patrick), Casey Maccio, and Adam Zakrewski; two uncles, Jerry Limmer (Judy) and Roger Limmer (Gloria), all of Southington. He was predeceased by his nephew Noah Maccio of Bristol, his maternal grandmother Hazel "Cookie" (Donahue) Limmer (Raymond) and his paternal grandmothers Mary (DAngelo) Maccio, Maria (D'Onofrio) Maccio (Dominic), aunts and uncles, Maxine (Limmer) McElory, Philomena (Maccio) Feola, Mary (Maccio) Orzech, Joseph Maccio, John Mac- cio (Antoinette), Raymond Maccio (Rose), and Edward Maccio (Diane). In addition, Dana will be missed and lovingly remembered by "The Hood"; Jon, Steve, Peggy, Doug, Doreen, Mary, Carol, Bob, Damory, Chris and Bonnie.
A 1976 graduate of Southington High School, he then went on to Central Connecticut State University, from where he received his BA in 1980 and his Masters Degree in 1992. Dana was an Arts Educator for the Old Saybrook school system for more than 30 years, retiring in 2016. He was also an accomplished artist, in multiple media. He enjoyed exhibits throughout Connecticut and in Glion Switzerland, where he attended a semester at the Centre International de Glion. Along with his husband, Dana was an avid traveler, spending many vacations in Ireland, France, Switzerland, and Italy.
