

Charles “Charlie/Chuck” E. Audet passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at the age of 83, 4 days short of his 84th birthday and after a long courageous battle with cancer. Charlie was born on May 13, 1942 in Waterbury, CT where he grew up with his loving parents and siblings.
Charlie graduated from Sacred Heart in 1960 where he then enlisted with the US Navy Reserve from 1961-1965 on the USS Lake Champlain (CVS-39) at Quonset Point with Honorable mention. Following his service to his country he went on to work for Otis Elevator Company as an Elevator Installer. Charlie also loved to be around friends and the community, accomplishing this by working as a Bartender at numerous well-known establishments in Cheshire to becoming an Elementary School Crossing Guard in Hamden, where he made bonds with the children and their families, working right up to the day his body wouldn’t allow it.
Charlie was actively involved in the Prospect Gun Club, loved fishing; both shoreline or charters with his son Jason, Sunday Road Trips, Sunday Breakfasts with his wife Diane. He also loved his puzzles, backyard fires in his firepit and putzing around anything that kept him busy outside in the yard.
Charlie was predeceased by his father, Sylvio Audet in 1973 and his mother, Germaine Audet (Chabot) also in 1973.
Charlie is survived by his Loving, devoted and unwavering wife Diane (Quiery) Audet, who never left his side during this battle, 3 children Tracey (Tracy) Fitzgerald, Christina (James) Scaramuzzino, and Jason Mullen. As well as 9 Grandchildren; Jessica, Samual (Marta), Devon, Dawson, Cailin, Madison, Erin (Clint), Rachael (Frankie) and Julie. Sister; Denise Audet, Brother; David (Cindy) Audet, Niece, Adrienne Audet along with numerous cousins.
The family would like to thank all the family and friends who were alongside Charlie during the 14-year battle that he fought and did he fight, that came with this disease, but a special thanks to the medical team who were with him not only during those 14 years, but faithfully and unwavering during the harder and more crucial times; Dr. Chao, Dr. Pine, Dr. Desai, Dr. Shamas and RPN Julie Nyguen, along with all the devoted nurses and health care providers.
At this time there will be no services, however he will be interred at the State Veterans Cemetery located in Middletown at a later date.
