Born on May 19,1947, in New London, he was the son of the late Lura Elizabeth (Hitchcock) Beebe and Edmund Beebe. Having lived most of his life in Old Lyme, Skip worked as a carpenter and contractor. Additionally, he devoted much of his life to serving his community, in his youth as an Eagle Scout and then for over 50 years as a member of the Old Lyme Fire Department, including as a past chief. He spent several years as a member of the Lyme Grange and as President of the Hamburg Fair. His love of history and his carpentry skills led him to work with a team of volunteers to rebuild the Old Lyme Historical Society for which they each received a Citizen of the Year award in 2019. After so many years serving his community, Skip has focused these past few years on his service to God and as a member of the Shoreline Church. Also, Skip was an avid gardener and beekeeper, as well as a gifted guitar player and singer. He loved to spend time in Mount Holly, Vermont, where his parents lived for the latter part of their lives.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Nancy, his children (with Catherine), Suzanne, Judith and Christine and his stepson, Jeff (with Nancy) and six grandsons.
