Alicia was born on November 11, 1944 in Philadelphia to Joseph and Alice Solecki. She attended school in the Northwest suburbs, graduating from Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School in 1962. She then attended Shippensburg State College, where she met her future husband, Larry.
After her marriage in 1963, Alicia lived in York, PA, where Larry was a high school teacher. Her children, Joe and Lauren were both born in York. In 1967 the family moved to State College, PA, while Larry completed graduate school at Penn State. They then moved to Connecticut, where they lived for 37 years, first in New Canaan and then in Bethel.
In Bethel, Alicia became an avid tennis player and golfer; her proudest achievement was winning the Grandmothers’ Golf Tournament at Ridgewood Country Club. She also volunteered in the children’s school, coached softball, and was a Girl Scout leader, including two weeks spent at a Girl Scout leadership camp in Wyoming. During Alicia’s time in Bethel her children married and had children of their own, and nothing pleased her more than watching the grandchildren learn to swim in her large in-ground pool.
In 2007, Alicia and Larry moved to a golf community in Hudson, Florida. There she enjoyed golf, dining out with friends, and playing mah jongg.
In 2022, Alicia and Larry moved back to Connecticut, taking an independent living apartment at McLean, a senior living community in Simsbury. In August of 2024 the couple celebrated 61 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband, Alicia is survived by her children, Joe and wife Geralyn, and their daughters Katie and Maggie, and Lauren and husband Farshad, and their sons Martin and Cameron.
A Celebration of Alicia’s Life will be held in early February.
