Alan was born in Boston, MA, on August 16, 1933, to the proud parents Walter Gordon and Helen Kyle Swan from Milton, MA, and was the brother of the late Priscilla Pecor. He is survived by his loving and cherished wife, Nancy Oldfield Swan, having celebrated 68 years of happy marriage; their children, Sara Swan-Carlezon, Christopher Michael (Kathryn) Swan, Elizabeth Kyle (Robert) Santoro, and Stephen Scott (Kelley) Swan; and, in loving memory, son Robert Alan Swan (d. 1975) and son-in-law Robert Thomas Carlezon (d. 2018). He was exceedingly proud of his ten grandchildren: Katelyn E. (Christopher) Dohner, Robert T. (Stephanie) Carlezon, Jr., Torian W. Swan, Adam J. Swan, Brian R. (Isabela) Santoro, Alexander C. Swan, Lt. Jasper D. Swan, Anna E. Santoro, Chloe A. Swan, Matthew K. Santoro, and great-granddaughter Anne E. Carlezon.
Alan graduated from Milton High School, followed by Milton Academy, and he subsequently earned a bachelor's degree from Springfield College in 1956. On their first of many adventures, the Swans boldly struck out for California, where he proudly served his country as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958. This was followed by an assignment with the Rodman Job Corps/IBM, before a long and successful career as a human resources international recruiter with the Raytheon Company in Massachusetts and El Paso, Texas. With adventurous and excited spirits, Alan, Nancy, and their family pursued work prospects in Saudi Arabia in 1968, which kindled a wanderlust and passion for global travel that produced so many wonderful memories.
Bud loved playing golf and following sports almost as much as he loved his wife and family! Despite a quiet, humble personality, he had a keen and intuitive intelligence. He will be dearly missed—a genuine example of a selfless Christian who lived a life in the service of others. "I slept and dreamt that life was Joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted, and behold, service was joy." (Rabindranath Tagore). Rest in peace, Bud, loving and always faithful son, husband, father, brother, uncle, grandpa, great-grandpa, and mentor.
