Vera M Aguilar

Vera is survived by her sons, Luis Aguilar and George Aguilar of Miami, Florida, and her daughter, Elizabeth Aguilar of Sebring, Florida. She is preceded in death by her husband, Luis Aguilar Leon of Miami.

Vera was born on November 21, 1932 in Santiago de Cuba to Luis Augusto Mestre and Carmen Mascaro Mestre. She graduated from Marymount College. She married Luis Aguilar Leon, a lawyer. After moving to Washington D.C., Vera began working for the InterAmerican Development Bank as an executive. Over 11 years, the couple welcomed three children. Her children remember her as a caring mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals.

Vera was a generous individual who loved movies and music, and who was passionate about Cuban history. She was a dedicated member of the Catholic Church.

A memorial Mass is scheduled for noon on March 20th at St. Agnes Church in Key Biscayne, Florida. Father Andrzej Foltyn will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Vera’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Agnes Church in Key Biscayne, Florida.
