Migdalia Duque

Migdalia Duque, 92, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, with her daughters by her side. In the days leading up to her passing, she was visited by family and friends who came to spend time with her, share their love, and say goodbye.

Migdalia was born on April 3, 1934, in Matanzas, Cuba, and spent most of her life in Miami, Florida, where she raised her family. She was married to James Thomas McKenna (deceased March 19, 2025), the father of her children, for nearly 17 years.

Migdalia came from humble beginnings, and those early experiences shaped the woman she became. She was practical, resourceful, and independent, and she lived her life simply and without pretense. She faced life’s challenges in her own way and, like all of us, did the best she could with what she knew and what she had.

Above all, Migdalia was a mother. When her children were young, she was involved in their lives and their activities. She volunteered with the PTA and shared her creativity by helping with crafts and activities for the Girl Scouts when her oldest daughter was involved.

Family remained important to Migdalia throughout her life. She maintained close ties with relatives in Cuba and traveled there over the years, often bringing clothing, supplies, and other necessities to family members.

Migdalia enjoyed a simple life and found happiness in familiar things and the people around her. She was a good daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Over the course of her 92 years, she had the joy of seeing her family grow through several generations.

She is survived by her three children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, along with family members and friends who knew and cared for her.

Migdalia’s was a long life, shaped by family, resilience, and the experiences of her generation. She will be remembered for who she was, for the ways she cared for her family, and for doing the best she could throughout her life. She will be missed and remembered with love.

A celebration of Migdalia’s life will be held on September 13, 2026, in the community room of the residential complex she called home for nearly 20 years. During her many years there, Migdalia formed close friendships and developed a sense of community and belonging. It is fitting that family and friends gather there to remember her, share their memories, and honor her life.
