Josephine Desmond Ostroski

She was the wife of Joseph Thomas Ostroski MD, her husband of 62 years.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Leo and Josephine Frances (Regan) Desmond. She was also the sister of Joseph and Daniel Desmond, both from Nahant, Massachusetts, who predeceased her. Josephine is survived by her sisters in law, Diane Desmond and Sandra Desmond of Nahant. Her nephews and nieces: Joseph Desmond of Danvers, MA, Daniel Desmond of Nahant, MA, David Desmond of Nahant, MA, Julie Desmond Cadigan of Nahant, MA, Patrick Desmond of Swampscott, MA, Kellie Desmond Frary of Nahant, MA and Michael Desmond of Nahant, MA and many great-nieces, great-nephews and also close family friend Anne Bower.

She was raised in Nahant, Massachusetts and graduated from Boston Academy of Notre Dame. She attended Nazareth College in Michigan and upon graduation in 1957 began her career as a dietitian at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear. She received her master’s degree at Florida International University.

After moving to Key Biscayne Florida, Josephine worked for Mercy Hospital for 45 years as a Dietitian. She loved her profession and was admired and respected by the staff and her patients. Josephine enjoyed life and was always up for an adventure. She enjoyed travel, tennis, biking, yoga and many other activities. She loved art, music and the opera and had many hobbies but was most passionate about her bear collection.

She was a devoted Catholic and member of the parish of St. Agnes Roman Catholic church in Key Biscayne Florida.

A funeral mass is scheduled at St. Agnes church on July 21st at 11:00 a.m. Father Juan Carlos Paguaga will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Josephine’s life. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please make a donation to a charity of your choice. Josephine had many charities that she supported over the years, and she would want you to choose your favorite. The family would like to thank everyone for all the support.
