Joan Carol Schwartz

Joan Waxenberg Schwartz of Sunny Isles Beach passed away Tuesday, August 8th, 2023. Born January 14, 1942, to parents Lillian (Birndorf) & Richard Waxenberg. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Allan Schwartz; Daughters Debbie (Kevin) DeVito, Julie Chaikin, and Lauren Chaikin; and Stepdaughters Susan (Tom) Pansing & Jennifer (Robert) Feinstein. She is also survived by her Brother-In -Law Barry Schwartz; loving grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan & Corey (Julie) DeVito, Jordan (Lydia) & Matthew (Sharley) Artigas; Zachary and Carly Hogan & step-grandchildren, Rafael (Jacky) Artigas, Kathryn (Xavier), Sarah & Justin Pansing, Samuel & Madeline Feinstein & Jack Schwartz. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard, Jr. & Stepson Mark Schwartz. Joan "Joni," aka "Grammar Joni," was an extraordinary person and the OG "Cool Mom" to many. She was extremely kind and compassionate to all. Her love for her family and Miami sports teams was immense. She was very charitable, caring deeply about women's and human rights and wild & marine life preservation. She had a profound impact on so many lives. The world is a little darker without her in it. She will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 13th, from 1-7 pm at the DeVito residence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joni's name to Planned Parenthood or The World Wildlife Foundation.
