James Heaberlin Cressy died peacefully in Bruce W. Carter Veterans Medical Center on January 17, 2024 in Miami, Florida at the age of 77. Jim is survived by his two children, Kelly R. (John) Evans of Panama City, Florida, and Dawn M. (Shawn) Dillon of Hattiesburg, MS. He was the grandfather of five and the great grandfather of eleven. He is also survived by his sister, Debra C. (Bobby) Anderson of Dayton, TN. Jim was born in Utica, NY to Frederick Drinan and Mary L. Cressy.
Jim graduated from Troy University with a Masters Degree in Administration. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1966 and proudly served his country until he retired after 25 years as a Captain. While in the Air Force he was stationed in South Korea and Vietnam. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Air Medal with two Silver and three Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters. He continued serving his country as a Systems Administrator for DEA.
Jim was an avid philatelist (stamp collector) and had acquired an extensive collection of which he was exceptionally proud. Jim was a Mason and Shriner.
