He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Priscilla Gray of Camarillo, CA; his daughters, Ann Cooper of Brandford, FL, and Linda Perez of Miami, FL; and his girlfriend, Arlene Greider of Key Largo, FL. Dan cherished his three beautiful grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos (Dick) and Anna (Ann); his beloved wife, Maryann; his son, Daniel Jr.; and his sister, Charlene Groves.
Dan was born on December 18, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Coral Gables High School in 1954 and married Maryann Sundman 1955.
His career began at Thunderbird Boats, but he found his calling as a firefighter with Miami-Dade County, starting in 1961. He served as a driver on C shift at Station #9 in Miami, retiring after 28 dedicated years in 1990.
Together, Dan and Maryann raised three wonderful children while Dan pursued his entrepreneurial spirit, running a business specializing in fiberglass repairs and crafting custom boats. Known for his generosity, wisdom, and caring nature, Dan embraced life to the fullest. He was an enthusiastic card player and loved fishing, boating, and spending time on the water with his family.
A celebration of Dan's life will be held at Pilot House Restaurant & Marina on January 18th 2:00pm-5:00pm with a happy hour to follow. All are invited to come together and honor Dan's legacy.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Tunnel to Towers.
