Adalberto “PAPI” Carmona passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, at the age of 80.
Born on November 21, 1945, in Pinar del Río, Cuba, Adalberto lived a life full of adventure, laughter, and unforgettable memories. On June 30, 1970, he came to the United States in search of new opportunities and built a life defined by perseverance, hard work, and a deep love for family.
Adalberto is survived by his wife, Nelida Lopez; his loving daughters, Janell Carmona and Eva Carmona; his ten cherished grandchildren, Vanessa, Jennifer, Deion, Mikey, Tiana, Angel, Olandis, Elena, Juan, and Jiana; and his eleven adored great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Known affectionately as “PAPI,” he was unapologetically himself in every sense of the word. He was the life of every gathering and was remembered long after the party ended. Charismatic, spontaneous, sarcastic, and endlessly entertaining, he had a way of making people laugh and feel welcome. Anyone fortunate enough to meet him remembered him.
A hardworking and dedicated professional driver, Adalberto spent many years delivering large equipment for South Dade Electric in Miami, Florida, his final place of employment before retirement. He took pride in his work, his independence, and his ability to provide for those he loved.
Fishing was not simply a hobby for PAPI—it was his passion. He spent much of his retirement doing what he loved most: fishing, enjoying the outdoors, and finding peace on the water. PAPI also had a special love for animals, particularly his roosters and his beloved dog, Coco. Even during his final days, he often asked about Coco, a testament to the deep bond and affection he shared with his faithful companion.
PAPI was a poet at heart and a natural storyteller who filled the lives of those around him with laughter, wisdom, and unforgettable memories. His stories, jokes, quick wit, and sarcastic sense of humor could brighten any room, and his larger-than-life personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
His family will remember him as a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose strength, humor, and encouragement helped shape their lives. During his final days, he was surrounded by family and cared for with dignity, compassion, and love.
Adalberto leaves behind a legacy of resilience, laughter, devotion, and countless stories that will be shared for generations. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on in the family he cherished and the many lives he touched.
