Steven Charles Deane of Seattle, Washington passed away in the early morning hours, February 26, 2023, before his standing date, Sunday family breakfast. Born May 16th, 1947 to Charles Thomas “Tom” Deane and Marion Elizabeth Perrott in Jacksonville, Florida, he spent his formative years growing up with his sister Sharon in the San Carlos area of Northern California. Despite the early loss of his wife Merrie and his health challenges, Deaner, as his friends knew him, had a great life. A charmed childhood, a memorable adolescence, love of a strong woman, two loving daughters; Holly and Shannon, son-in-law Jacob Brown and beautifully genuine granddaughters Parker and Charlotte.
After his youth spent Go-cart racing and cruising El Camino with friends, it is no surprise that he remained an employee of the auto industry until his retirement. The man made friends wherever he went. He was blessed to keep so many of them close through the years. Some of whom he’d known since elementary school.
After retirement, Deaner had a chance to really enjoy the little treasure of a home he and Merrie stumbled upon in 1972. There was so much pride and joy in the hours he spent on his deck. Observing the return of resident ducks, the occasional eagle and heron, the busy float planes over the lake, the trail joggers passing by, and the clear night sky over the mountaintops in the distance.
Oh, the stories he could tell. If you’d never heard him tell his “hundred dollar bill” story, his daughters will try their best to do it justice.
Deaner’s wealth can be measured by the friends he had and the people he loved. It was a life well lived.
