TEAGUE, Shelley Miles, 80, of Anacortes, WA, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025 at Harborview Medical Center, Seattle surrounded by family after multiple organ failure following a major bone fracture sustained on January 4. Born Shelley Pravel on December 29, 1944 to Charles and Ruth (Yendes) Pravel in Orange, CA, Shelley became a brilliant medical transcriptionist practicing for more than 40 years. Finally retiring in 2012. Yes, she was a California gal born and raised, enjoying all that California had to offer. She gave birth to her son and only child, Calvin Miles in June 1970 and raised him as a single mother from 1981 until she met Charles Teague and married in 1987.
Those who knew Shelley would say that she enjoyed people, of all kinds, cared about people and loved people. She would talk with strangers everywhere and anywhere. She was serious about her faith and walk with God, spending many years in Sunday School ministry. She loved to tell children about Jesus and spent many years teaching Vacation Bible School in addition to Sunday School. She was an outstanding cook and delighted in preparing meals for church weddings, events and pot luck gatherings. Countless holiday meals were shared with a houseful of family and friends.
To be close to her beloved and treasured grandchildren, Shelley and Charles moved from California to Savannah, GA in 2004. Later on, her son’s family relocated to Washington in late 2012, so Shelley and Charles followed suit and settled in Anacortes, WA in 2013.
She is survived by her cutie heart husband Charles Teague; son Calvin (Mylene) Miles of Bothell, WA and four grandchildren, Sean (25), Matthew (23), Ethan (16), Kirsten (13), and granddog Apollo (4).
She is also survived by one brother John (Sally) Pravel of Yachats, OR; and sister-in-law Catherine Pravel of Mason, OH.
Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ruth (Yendes) Pravel; and brother Charles Pravel.
