OBITUARY

Randall Lewis Lane

November 14, 1947 – July 11, 2026
Obituary of Randall Lewis Lane

Randall Lewis Lane (Randy) of Seattle, Washington, departed this earthly life on Saturday, July 11, 2026, after a long illness. He was born on November 14, 1947, in Orlando, Florida, and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio.

Randy graduated from Glenville High School in 1966 and graduated from Western Reserve University in 1971 before becoming a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, where he served for six years. He later attended NYU Stern School of Business, UCLA Anderson School of Management, and many other institutions and programs, continually expanding his knowledge and nurturing his love for mentoring others.

In the early 1970s, Randy began his corporate career in banking before moving into technology, working for prominent companies including First National City, Nynex, and Time Warner. His professional travels and relationships soon enriched his personal life, creating lasting friendships and adventures that remain evident today.

Randy’s interest in ice skating began in childhood, on a small backyard rink built by his father, and continued years later--even at the Rockefeller Center rink below his office in New York. Through the sport, he formed friendships throughout the amateur and professional figure skating community, including close connections with top skaters around the world.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, James Louis Lane, and his mother, Bernice Kathryn Lane.

He is survived by his siblings, Carl A. Lane, Sr. (Quinnie), Wayne Michael Lane (Karen), Linda Kathrine Dolane, and Carol Lynne Pitts (Darren). He also leaves his beloved nieces, Carmen, Marissa, Marianne, and Elizabeth, and nephews, Nicholas, Carl Jr. (C.J.), Christian, Cameron, Jason, and Andrew, to cherish his memory.

Words cannot express the heartfelt gratitude of Randall’s family. Thank you to the doctors at Virginia Mason, with special thanks to Dr. David Aboulafia for his steadfast support and enduring friendship. We are also grateful to the Oncology floor nurses for the care and compassion they showed during Randall’s final days. Most importantly, thank you to the friends of The Murano Senior Living Community and to everyone who visited, called, delivered a favorite treat, or touched our loved one’s life.

In honoring Randy’s wishes, his remains will be cremated through The Neptune Society and scattered on Puget Sound in August.

In lieu of flowers, cards may be sent to The Family of Randall L. Lane, PO Box 4044, Copley, OH 44321-1468

Please feel free to share this link with others and include your memories, photos, thoughts, and prayers with our family. We would love to hear from you, as we know you loved Randy as much as we did!

Alone I Will Not Be

My comfort will come from the sea.

The stillness of calm waves will gently drift by

I will be as one with the sea.

When the sun sets on the ocean blue, remember me as I will always remember you.

As the sun rises…go live life as full as can be

Apart…you and me…but be at peace for I am free.

Capt. Chad Theesfeld
