April 22, 1941 – April 9, 2023
Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend.
Phil was born in Marshfield, Oregon to Lester and Dorothy Ingram. He and his older sister Phyllis Jean were raised on the family farm just outside Independence Oregon. He graduated from Central High School in Independence in 1959 and enlisted in the Army Reserve in 1961. In 1964 he began working for The National Cash Register Corporation, married and had his first daughter Roberta Jean, followed three years later by a son, Ryan James. In 1976, while working for NCR, he met Kathy Brown, whom he later married, adopting her daughter Erika Michelle. When they had another daughter, Phil and Kathy maintained his family tradition of matching initials, and named her Enika Marie.
At NCR, Phil started out repairing Cash Registers, but was one of the first to be trained as a computer technician, back when computers were little more than enormous adding machines. As they evolved, so did his job. By the time he retired in 2000, his title was Northwest District Manager. Even after he retired, he stayed with NCR on a contract basis, working on computers all over Washington, eventually becoming the Western Washington Key Master before he completely retired in 2017.
Phil loved art. For decades, he never went anywhere without a sketchpad. He turned his sketches into beautiful watercolor paintings, a few of which can be seen today around the church. He was also passionate about golf, which he’d started playing in high school. He and Kathy chose a home overlooking the sixth hole of the Walter Hall golf course and he created a beautiful garden with a fish pond there. When his health made it impossible for him to play, he could sit by his pond and watch it.
He and Kathy also enjoyed traveling. They visited Hawaii, Indio, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Florida, Texas, Oregon, New Hampshire, California, New Mexico, Mexico, and Victoria BC, often accompanied by friends, family or their many grandkids. They were also able to go on many cruises, to locations all over the Caribbean, also Alaska and Mexico and they especially enjoyed their two week cruise through the Panama Canal.
Above all else, Phil was a man of God. He served the Lord all his life, studying His Word, teaching and leading others to Him and praying for all those around him. He left this world on Easter Sunday, surrounded by his family. We are glad he has gone home to be with his Lord, free of the health problems that plagued his earthly body for so long.
Phil is survived by his sister Phyllis; devoted wife Kathy Ingram; children Roberta Raye, Ryan Ingram and Enika Lynch (Jimmy); grandchildren Frances McGinley; Keely and Alex Ingram; Savannah Carlson; Kiya, Elias, Trinity, Ellie, Eris, Ariya, Gaige, Hollender, Teryx, Exxus, Nyden, Znix and Sonnen Lynch. He was preceded in death by his daughter Erika Michelle Carlson.
