Nancy passed away peacefully at home after a courageous fight with cancer. She was born on June 27, 1944 to Bill and Dorothy Richmond in Morgantown, West "By God", Virginia and the family moved to Ferndale when she was 10.
She attended the University of Oregon and graduated from UW. She worked at Pacific Northwest Bell for many years. She married Harry Ostrander, the love of her life for 52 years and raised two children, Willard Wells Ostrander, (Rachael) and JoAnn Nye Ollila (Mikko) and was the proud "Nana" of Zachary and Dorothy Ostrander and Gideon and Sofia Ollila. Nancy adored her grandchildren, tending to her roses, "old people yard art," all things that sparkled, every small animal she encountered and her 100+ Pez collection.
Over 50 years ago, I met a lady who stole my heart. We formed a team and, united together, we loved, laughed, cried, celebrated and shared, through everything those 50+ years threw at us. Through our love, we were blessed with two beautiful children, Willard and JoAnn, and blessed again with four beautiful grandchildren. We found our "happy place" in Maui, danced by the ocean in Old Lyme, sailed the Caribbean, you sang to an audience in San Francisco and we returned to Enetai. With every year we grew to understand each other and love each other more. I can truly say that I am the luckiest person in the world and, through thick and thin, I would have it no other way. I will always remember growing older together, loving each other, collecting yard art and sharing movies on the beach in Maui with my special girl. I love you truly.
Nancy's ashes will be given to Namaka, the goddess of the sea, in Maui.
