Karen Jane Roper

July 3, 1940 – July 5, 2026
Obituary of Karen Jane Roper

Karen was born in Cordova Alaska, a third-generation Alaskan, to Pery C. Davis and Ella Day. As a child she spent many summers wandering her Grand Mother’s homestead in Dayville on the site of old Fort Lipscomb. These days of freedom shaped her sense of responsibility and independence. Later she attended Cornish where she sharpened her talent and acquired a love of art which she never lost. Karen and Alan Thomas Roper were married in Seattle in 1960 and lived for a time on Beacon Hill in Seattle, South Covina, California, Fort Collins, Colorado and Terre Haute, Indiana before moving to Port Ludlow after his retirement in 2000. Karen worked at many different jobs in Indiana including Aerobics Instructor and legal secretary while raising two energetic boys Mark Patrick of St. Charles, MO and Jefferey Alan of Bothell, WA.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Steven. She is survived by a sister Diann Smith (Anacortes), her husband, her sons Mark (St. Charles, Mo.) and Jeff (Bothell), and by dearly loved Grand Daughter Sadie (Bothell) and Grandson Shade (O’Fallon, Mo.) as well special niece Patricia Waltz (Mt. Vernon) and nephew Skyler Smith (Redmond).

In keeping with Karen's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
