He grew up in Manhattan Beach, California, where his love of the beach and being on the water originated.
He earned a scholarship to attend and play baseball for Stanford University. Terry received his degree in Geology, and his team's record was an impressive 29-5-2 in 1953.
He attained a rank of 1st Lieutenant as a navigator in the Air Force. While he was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, he met & married his wife, Karla. They eventually settled in Edmonds, Washington, and had two daughters.
Terry earned his teaching degree and taught and coached in Lake Washington district for 20+ years.
He loved taking his sailboat out on Mason Lake, carpentry, and golfing. At age 75, he shot a 147-foot hole-in-one.
He and Karla enjoyed traveling, and formed good friendships in the many countries they visited.
His family & friends were often recipients, collaborators, and targets of his humor---he loved jokes, puns, and elaborately-planned pranks. Some included his collection of crazy wigs.
Terry always had a cause he was fighting for, utilizing pen-to-paper, picket signs, and impassioned pleas. One such campaign resulted in the purchase of a ping-pong table at his retirement complex, where he became the captain of an enthusiastically competitive Ping-Pong Club.
He has now joined Karla in Heaven, and is survived by daughters Maura, Bronwyn, and grandson Colin.
