Gerald Irving Martin passed away peacefully in his home in Sequim, Washington on December 31st, 2023. Long-time Bremerton, Washington resident and known as Jerry to all who knew and loved him. Born in Agnew, Washington on March 10th, 1948 and adopted by Everett (Toby) and Lola Martin. Jerry was born and raised in Bremerton and graduated from Bremerton High School. He later attended Olympic College and started his first career working at the United States Postal Service; where he met his first wife, Peggy Stach, and from this union they had four children. Jerry found his calling and made a career at the Naval Undersea Warfare Engineering Center in Keyport, Washington, as a civilian. His first job was building electronics components for torpedoes. Jerry moved to Sequim, Washington and remarried Patricia Deniers in 1999 and retired from Keyport in 2006.
Jerry was a devoted Masonic Lodge member, and he enjoyed the outdoors and traveling to far off destinations, to camp, explore, and spend time with his close family and friends. He had a fascination with cars and computers, you could always find him tinkering with something. Later in life he found a passion for motorcycles and loved taking his wife and grandkids on motorcycle adventures. Jerry was well known as an intelligent family man who loved laughing, strongly debating a slew of topics, and watching tons of Star Trek. He had a vast knowledge of information and enjoyed keeping up with current events, both across the world, and what his daughters and grandkids were up to. Jerry had an infectious obsession with genealogy, this may have been partly due to his adoption. Later in life, he was able to find his biological family with the help of his eldest grandson. Jerry spoke and met with his half -sisters in 2018 and learned more info about his ancestry.
Jerry was preceded in death by his infant son, Gerald Irving Martin, Jr., his parents Lola and Toby, his biological parents, his first wife, Peggy Stach. He is survived by his wife Patricia, his daughters, Amanda Nelson, Samantha (Ryan) Pinkham, and Rebecca Christensen, his 6 loving grandchildren, Kian Gerald McKibben, Kyle (Ashley) McKibben, Austin (Emily) Searles, Alexandria Searles (Cade), Kael McKibben, Abigail Olson, and one great-granddaughter, Madilyn Searles. He is also survived by his siblings, Jim (Judy) Martin, Marquita Hicks (Tom), Debbie (Bob) McIntyre, and countless others who called Jerry their family or their friend.
