George was born in Galesburg,IL on September 11, 1934, the Son of Dale & Mildred (Brown) Cebert. He married Mary Lou Caldwell on September 15, 1956 in Galesburg, IL and would have had their 67th wedding anniversary next month.
Surviving are his wife Mary, their two children & Spouses, Matt & Karen Eckerson of Marysville, WA and David & Rene’ Cebert of Spokane, WA.; three Grandchildren:
Hannah Cebert of Denver, CO, Bethany Cebert and Christian Cebert of Spokane, WA. His three Sisters & their Spouses: Deana & Bob Hartzell of Gerlaw, IL, Diane & Gary Johnson of Derby, IN, Judy & Jim Barger of Lincoln, NE. He was preceded in death by his Brother & Spouse, Craig & Barbara Cebert of Florida.
George had a 38 year career with the Burlington Northern Railroad, beginning in Galesburg with the CB&Q Railroad in 1952 & retiring in 1990 as the Seattle, WA Interbay Diesel Shop Superintendent. In retirement he enjoyed salmon fishing in Puget Sound for nearly 33 years. His C-Dory boat was known & respected by the other fishermen on the water. Many Family & Friends have fond memories fishing with George, usually catching their limits of Salmon.
George was deeply loved by his large extended Family & Friends. George made Family time a priority and was always anxious to share his love through helping where he could and never giving up on an unexpected problem he could figure out a fix for. He has a beautiful singing voice too and we can hear him sing now “Don’t worry, be happy”.
The Celebration of his life will occur at his Marysville home Sunday, August 27th at 1 pm and shared on Zoom conferencing by invitation.
