Born 5/13/1937 in San Jose, CA. Graduated Lodi High School 1956 and continued her education in San Francisco to become an RN in Labor and Delivery. Dolores had an interest in the complicated births figuring “the normal births would figure themselves out”. Her special studies paid off when two weeks on the job, she was left short-handed in the L&D wing without a doctor or Aid, when a mom-to-be was admitted. The baby was arriving with umbilical cord prolapse and feet first. She had just completed reading about this scenario and its potential grim outcomes. She knew what to do, by the time the Doctor arrived he said. “ Do you want to go ahead and finish?”. Dolores truly enjoyed what she did and continued in the field for over 30 years.
Dancing was something that was NOT allowed in Dolores’ home growing up. In fact, if dancing came on the TV, the channel was changed. She was not permitted to go to dances at school or socially. So, when she moved to San Francisco for nursing school, she went to the Fred Astaire Dance Company and took a class. With one class session under her belt, Dolores attended a social night at the Dance Studio. This is when she met Perry, the one with the big grin by the spiked punch bowl. They were dance partners from that day forward. They were married 3 months later in December of 1964. Perry’s new job with Sears brought them from San Francisco up to the small town of Redmond, Wa in 1976. She and Perry raised their 3 children and then later entertained the 5 grandchildren, in their Redmond home until finally downsizing in 2019.
Dolores is survived by her husband of 58 years, Perry; 3 children, Richard Glover, Cheryl Jones, and Cindy Gallardo; 5 grandchildren: Scott Glover, Alicia and Braden Jones, Noah and Jacob Gallardo.
Memorial scheduled to be held on Saturday September 16th at Canyon Hills Community Church 22027 17th Ave SE, Bothell, WA 98021 at 11am
