Tino “Tanting” Hardi was born on February 17, 1949, in Cavite City, Philippines, to Amado and Nenita Hardi. As the eldest child, he grew up alongside his siblings: Lolita, who passed away in 2020, Amado Jr., Dino, and Solita.
At the age of 16, he and his family moved from the Philippines to Okinawa, Japan, where his father’s career took them. Although he embraced new surroundings, he missed his homeland and made the courageous decision to return to the Philippines on his own to complete his high school education. Determined and resilient, he pursued HVAC training and later enrolled in mechanical engineering at FEATI University, commuting daily between Cavite City and Manila to achieve his goals.
During a break from school, fate led him to a debutante ball in Cavite City, where he met the love of his life, Teresita “Tessie” Trias. Though they had been neighbors, their paths had not crossed until that special night. Captivated by her presence, he knew he had found his soulmate. After two years of inseparable companionship, they married in March 1969. That same year, they welcomed their first child, Jenny, into the world.
His unwavering dedication to providing for his family took him overseas to places like Australia and Papua New Guinea. Despite the distance, his love and commitment remained steadfast. In 1978, he returned to his family, and together they embarked on a new chapter by migrating to the United States, eventually settling in Seattle, Washington. His perseverance and skill led him to a successful career at Boeing, where he worked diligently to create a stable and fulfilling life for his loved ones. In 1980, their family grew once more with the birth of Jason.
Throughout his life, his passion for helping others was matched only by his love for his family. Whether golfing with friends, hunting deer and elk, bowling, tinkering around the house, or visiting the casino, he embraced every moment. Known for his resourcefulness and kindness, he was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Yet, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially after the birth of his only grandchild, Sofie, in June 2010. His face would light up as he watched her grow into the remarkable young person she is today.
Tanting’s legacy lives on in his beloved wife, Tessie; his children, Jenny and Ronnie, Jason and Vanessa; and his cherished granddaughter, Sofie. He also leaves behind numerous family members and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
He was a man of quiet strength, unwavering dedication, and unconditional love. As we honor his memory, we are grateful for the countless ways he touched our lives. Though we will miss him dearly, his spirit lives on in the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the countless memories we hold dear. Rest peacefully, Tanting, knowing that your kindness and legacy will continue to inspire those who loved you.
