Steve was born on August 16, 1946, in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated from St. Elizabeth of Hungary in Germantown, KY; St. Thomas Seminary in Louisville, KY (AA); Mt. St. Mary’s Seminary of the West/The Athenaeum of Ohio, in Norwood, OH (M. Div); The Catholic University of America School of Cannon Law, Washington, DC; and the University of Louisville School of Education in Louisville, KY (M. Ed). He was an associate pastor of three parishes and Chief Advocate of the Tribunal of the Archdiocese of Louisville.
He worked as an insurance agent and staff manager, a securities representative, a professional writer, a substitute teacher at the KY School for the Blind, and retired as a teacher of the blind and visually impaired in Jefferson County Public Schools.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Gervase and Francesca (Perrone) Meyer and his Granddaughter, Erica Brown. He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria J. (Irvin) Meyer, his children: Jeffrey Brown (Julia), Tina Carroll (Kurt), Gina Troutman (Scott), Jennifer Ortel (David); his grandchildren: Kristina Carroll, Veronica Calvin (Justin), Sarah Stump(Chris), Travis Carroll(Elizabeth) Christopher Brown and Zachary Chreste (Taylor) and 16 Great Grandchildren; 5 brothers: Thomas (Joy), John (Dolly), James(Kathy), Timothy, Vincent and 1 sister, Mary Carmel Meyer Daugherty (Blaine), and numerous beloved nieces and nephews, who will forever cherish the memories they shared.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on April 22, 2025, at St. Gabriel The Archangel Catholic Church.
