

Margaret Ann Cain passed away June 14, 2025, in Bowling Green, KY. She was 79 years old. Born June 22,1945 in Long Beach California to Frank E.G. Clarke and Christine (Wolfe) Clarke. She graduated from Ramona High School in Riverside, CA in 1963. Ann met her husband Larry Cain a week before her 15th birthday in 1960. After his return from serving in the US Army, they were married on the 9th of May, 1964.
While on vacation to Oregon in 1974, they decided not to return to California, but to make their home in Oregon. They raised their children in Hermiston, Eugene and Portland. Ann worked in Special Education for Umatilla County ESD, Lane County ESD, and Portland Public Schools for over 20 years. While working she attended BMCC, LCC, and Portland State University (PSU) where she received a BS in Communication and Social Science with honors. She then received her MS in Communication with honors and went on to work for PSU as an instructor in the Communications Dept. Teaching was her passion, as were her hobbies of reading, writing, drawing and painting. Passions even closer to her heart were her children and grandchildren.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband 1SG Larry A. Cain USA (ret) and their oldest son, SFC Ryan A. Cain (Tracy) USA (ret). She is survived by her sons, CDR Eric A. Cain (Dana) USCG (ret.), Cully M. Cain (Chantal), and Hank Brandt, USCG (ret), Daughters, Angela L. Herbison, and Crystal D. Armstrong. She is also survived by her brother, Thom K. Clarke, sister Mary A. Holmes, and several cousins in TX. Also left to carry on the Cain tradition of “God and family are everything” are 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
