Kirk Alden Brandon, 85, of Fisherville, KY, passed away on July 30, 2024 after a long illness. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on November 5, 1938, to Frank McKinley Brandon and Mabel Leopard Brandon.
Kirk graduated from Kentucky Military Institute before attending Denison University in Ohio, where he studied psychology. He played as a running back on the Denison football team and was scouted to join the Baltimore Colts, but declined in order to attend graduate school.
Career opportunities later took him to Maryland, where he lived in Annapolis and Kent Island for many years. After a long and distinguished career in the field of medical business management and writing for publications such as Medical Economics, he retired to his home state of Kentucky, where he was surrounded by family and friends. He was a lifelong football fan and a reader of history, and is remembered for his sharp intelligence, laconic wit, and kind heart.
He is survived by his wife, Linda McLallen Brandon; sons Michael, David, & Noah Brandon; stepson Philip Wakeman and daughters-in-law Karen Brandon & Amy Wakeman; grandchildren Devin & Sarah Brandon and Emma & Stella Wakeman; and a wealth of friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Mayo Clinic, or the National World War II Museum.
There will be a celebration of Kirk's life at 11:00 am, on August 14, 2024, at St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Anchorage. There will be a reception following the service.
