Joyce Ellen (Rummel) Parry of Louisville, KY left this earth and was taken to be in the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 after a 2 year struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease and a month long battle with pancreatic and liver cancer. Joyce was 75 years old, having been born on November 13, 1947 in Chester, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Media, Pennsylvania, was a 1965 graduate of Penn Crest High School and briefly attended Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Joyce worked as an Executive Secretary or Administrative Assistant for almost 30 years in Pennsylvania, Missouri, California, Oregon, and Ohio. However, for the last 15 years of her working career, she did what she loved the most and worked as a Nanny helping to care for and raise 8-9 children. She also was an extremely important part of her husband’s 43 years of full-time pastoral ministry, always willing to help with music, children’s ministry, administrative work or whatever else needed to be done.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin A. and Violet G. Rummel.
Joyce is survived by her husband of almost 56 years – Rev. Harold O. “Hal” Parry, two sons – Owen D. and daughter-in-law Christine Parry of Louisville, Evan M. and daughter-in-law Crystal Parry of Temecula, CA, three grandsons – Nolan J. and Trevor N. Parry of Louisville and Eliot C. Parry of Temecula, CA., one brother – Douglass A. and Kristi Rummel of Fairfield, ID. as well as numerous cousins, many nieces and nephews.
