Joyanna (Joy) was born October 26, 1975 to Debra Chancellor and Joseph Muglia in Copiague (Long Island), NY. Joyanna lived in Long Island until her family moved to Spring Hill, FL in 1988. Joyanna attended middle, high school, and college in Florida. She is a Graduate of the Class of 1993 of F.W. Springstead High School in Spring Hill, FL. Joyanna enjoyed classic cars and all forms of Ford Mustangs (especially GT, manual transmission). Joyanna met her husband Jeffrey Swartz in high school in 1991. They soon started dating and were married in 1996. Joyanna's career and passion was in customer service in then retail and banking industries. She worked as a Supervisor for Publix and JP Morgan Chase Bank.
Joyanna and Jeffrey have three children, Austin (22), Joseph (19), and Anthony Swartz (17), as well as two pups, Addison and Arizona, predeceased by the first family dog, Dallas. Joyanna was very close to her cousins, Christie O'Sullivan (Hill) and Anna Mary Hancock (Hill); her aunt/Godmother and uncle, Anna and Harry Hill. Joyanna loved her brother, Jesse Hofmeister of Williston, FL; she is also survived by her brother, Joe Muglia of Charlotte, NC; her sister, Kristy Baquero (Muglia) of Charlotte, NC; and her father, Joseph Muglia of Copiague, NY.
Joyanna's fiery spirit and attitude was undeniable. Her laughter would bring the light out in others. Other survivors include: brothers and sister in laws; Tom Swartz (Melanie), Maryellen Morgan, Amy Kado (Brian), David Swartz (Misti); Aunts/Uncles/Cousins: Harry and Anna Hill, Bobby Chancellor, Christie O'Sullivan (Evan), and Anna Mary Hancock.
Preceding her in death are her mother, Debra Chancellor of Zephyrhills, FL; her father-in-law, Wallace Thomas Swartz and her mother-in-law, Mary V. Swartz-Cosenza, both of Spring Hill, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Go Fund Me link below. The contributions will go to a non profit organization that is near and dear to the family's heart.
Burial will be at 11:00am on Saturday July 22, 2023, at Holy Trinity cemetery in New Albany, IN.
A celebration of life will follow from 12-4:00 pm at The Spot Events Venue, 1108 Copperfield Dr. Georgetown, IN 47122
