Carolyn M. Fachinger, 81, passed away on December 19, 2024. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Fachinger, daughter Molly King, granddaughter Vivienne Rusk and brother John Hache. Carolyn was born in Ottawa, Ontario Canada on March 22, 1943. She moved to Long Beach, California in 1969, where she met her husband of 43 years. The couple moved to Louisville in 1981, where they opened their home to foster countless teenage girls, including her bonus daughter, Rebecca Thornton. Her bonus grandchildren-- Harmony LaHue, Ian Thornton and Winter Thornton-- fondly referred to her as Nana or Grandma C. Carolyn’s positive impact continues with Rebecca, who chose to both foster and adopt youth.
Carolyn had a vivacious spirit. She enjoyed dancing, making people laugh, listening to music, shopping for treasures at the Goodwill, spending time with her cat (JJ), playing cribbage and taking every opportunity to celebrate with a margarita. Carolyn was a talented crafter and inventor of PetPix picture frames. She took great pride in her crafts and was even selected to make a Santa ornament for the White House Christmas tree.
A memorial service will be January 12th from 430-7pm on Sunday, January 12th at VFW 1170 Middletown-- 107 Evergreen Road, Louisville, KY 40243.
