October 9, 1935-June 29, 2025
Ann Perry, 89, passed away in her home on June 29th. She was the daughter of John and Margaret Stier of Greensburg, Indiana and was a graduate of Greensburg Community High School. In her younger days she was an active ice skater, bowler, fencer, and tennis player, and was a lifelong animal and nature lover. She also loved to work and retired after 30 years in government service at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and retired after 50 years, initially part time and ultimately full time, as a mutual clerk at Churchill Downs, Keeneland, Turfway and Ellis Park. She had many friends and colleagues on both the backside and frontside of Churchill Downs and supported them in their times of need. She had a very charitable heart and gave unconditionally. Because of her Department of Agriculture connections, she was a regular for many years at the Kentucky State Fair and could be counted on to walk every aisle and visit every booth in the exhibit hall. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association. She was a woman of deep faith and worship, and longtime parish member, and sang in the church choir of St. Margaret Mary Church. She was also a parishioner and choir member of St. Brigid Church in Louisville, and choir member of the Church of Annunciation in Shelbyville. She is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, Ty Perry, by their children Marie and Tony, and by her grandson Geordie.
A Funeral Mass for Ann will be held on July 12, 2025, at 11:00am, at St. Brigid Catholic Church. She will be interred in Cave Hill Cemetery.
