Lorraine Dinkle Morrison passed away peacefully at home in Livermore, California, on May 24, 2025, at the age of 89. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Lorraine’s energy and love of life touched everyone she met.
Born on July 19, 1935, in San Francisco to Louis Arthur Dinkle and Lottie Jessie Armstrong, Lorraine spent her early years in the city before the family moved to Mill Valley. She graduated from Tamalpais High School in 1953 and that same year married the boy next door, George “Len” Morrison, in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he was stationed with the U.S. Navy.
Lorraine and Len shared a life full of adventure, living in Sunnyvale, Honolulu, and Long Beach before settling in Hayward, California, in 1964. They had five beautiful children together: Karen, Pamela, Gary, Shawn, and Cheryl. Lorraine met the joys and challenges of motherhood with strength, humor, and love.
In the early 1980s, Lorraine began a new chapter working in Silicon Valley as a buyer for Qume Corporation. She and Len retired to Valley Springs in Calaveras County in 1990, where she embraced community life. A Calaveras Master Gardener, she volunteered for 25 years with EBMUD’s Mokelumne Trailbusters, helped build and support local trails, served as President of the local American Legion, and stayed active with tennis, racquetball, water aerobics, and long hikes on the Coast to Crest Trail.
Lorraine took pride in her Native American heritage as an elder of the Shoalwater Bay Tribe in Washington State. She loved the outdoors, cherished her many circles of friends, and kept a witty, vibrant spirit—becoming affectionately known in later years as the “crazy-sock lady” for her colorful support stockings.
She found great joy in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Annual family vacations in the redwoods of Humboldt County were a cherished tradition she passed down to future generations.
Lorraine is survived by her daughters: Karen Morrison-Perry, Pamela MacGregor, Shawn Davis (Derek Davis), and Cheryl Fernandez; grandchildren: Alexandra Perry Williams (Jed), Zachary Perry (Heather), John MacGregor (Alexis), Jeremy MacGregor (Lindsay), Victoria Fernandez Knight (Derek), Matthew Fernandez, Leah Fernandez, Jacques Fracchia, and Guillaume Fracchia; and great-grandchildren: Jace and Colton MacGregor, Everett and Westlyn Williams, Elliana and Naya Perry and Matthew Fernandez—who lovingly called her “GGMO.”
Preceded in death by Gary Morrison, George “Len” Morrison, and George “Rocky” Perry.
