

Thomas L. Wurtenberger, 76, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born on June 13, 1949, in Huntington Park, California, to Irvin and Vyda (Mullen) Wurtenberger. Thomas graduated from Campolindo High School in Moraga, California, in 1967 and later earned a bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era and was honorably discharged from the Reserves in 1977.
Thomas retired from Union Pacific Railroad, formerly Southern Pacific Railroad, in 2010 after 36 years of dedicated service as a budget manager.
In retirement, Thomas especially enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. He appreciated life’s simple pleasures, valued time with loved ones especially his grandchildren, and created many cherished memories through his adventures and gatherings with family and friends. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his steady presence, and his warm heart.
He was married to his first wife, Katherine, for 45 years until her passing in 2015. He met his current wife, Michelle, and was happily married since 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Vyda Wurtenberger; his first wife, Katherine; and his sister, Eileen.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Michelle; his siblings, Selma and her husband, Daniel; Elizabeth and her husband, Paul; Margaret and her husband, Robert; and Daniel; his children, Jason and his wife, Sonia; Jessica and her husband, Anthony; and Joelle; his stepchildren, Stephen and his wife, Jennifer, and Catherine and her husband, Rory; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Matthew, Jesse, Angelina, Anna-Leigh, Evan, Tiana, Alyssa, Arya, Cate, Brendan, Henry, and Olivia; and his great-grandchildren, Aaron and Andrew.
Services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, 10:00 at the mausoleum at Riverwood Memorial Gardens, 301 Carnahan Drive, Maumelle, Arkansas.
