Robert Stanhope Mills

A private family service will take place at a future date with Pastor Bradley Warbritton from Village Christian Church officiating.

Robert S. Mills was born in West Salem, Illinois to Walter Allen Mills and Mabel Ruth Stanhope Mills on February 8,1928. He attended school at Mills Prairie, West Salem rural area and West Salem High School in Illinois. He married Phyllis Joy Nichols on June 3,1950 in Urbana, Illinois. Robert graduated from Lincoln Christian College in 1952 with a BA and a Master’s in Theology. Robert along with his wife and young family travelled to southern Africa in 1953 and remained there as missionaries for 47 years. He introduced thousands to the Lord through his printing ministry and correspondence courses, along with teaching and preaching the Word. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Navy. He received an honorable discharge on December 24, 1947, and received the medal of “Victory World War II”. However, his greater pride was receiving the Restoration Award from Lincoln Christian College Alumni Association.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Joy Mills and his parents, Walter and Mabel Mills. Also, his two brothers James William Mills and Jackie Allen Mills.

Robert is survived by daughters Kathryn Gail Bright, Ruth Ellen Engelbrecht (Edwin), Donna May Harkness (Jim) and Rebecca Joy Cloete (Chris), grandchildren Shannon Bright (Mandy), Rhonda Sanchez (Doug), Cameron Bright, Michelle Ferri (Steff), Clinton Engelbrecht (Wendy), Nickie Madden (Brian), Sean Engelbrecht (Misty), Susan Straube (Jimmy), Thomas Cloete (Rebecca); Deidre Annadale and great-grandchildren Eryn, Tayla and Verity Bright; Chantelle Bright; Gabriel Ferri; Jaydon & Daniel Engelbrecht; Aiden Williams; Mackenzie Madden; Carter Engelbrecht; Caitlyn & Mikkel Straube and Oliver & Emily Cloete Young.

Memorial donations can be made to Ozark Christian College, specifying Lincoln Seminary in the memo section.
