Nancy Lee Curlee

Nancy Lee (Deacon) Curlee, 85, of Cabot, Arkansas, passed away at her home on August 9, 2026. She was born on December 11, 1940, in Warren, Ohio, to William and Roberta Deacon and was raised in Waverly, Ohio, on her family’s farm.

Nancy graduated from Waverly High School and later earned an Associate’s Degree in Business from Garland County Community College in Dallas, Texas. She also attended airline school and went on to work for Delta Airlines. Throughout her career, Nancy worked in office administration and restaurant management.

Nancy was a member of the Cabot Church of Christ, where she especially enjoyed her ladies’ Bible study class. Her faith and family were very important to her.

Nancy was married to Wendell Berkley Curlee (Berk). They spent many years together in Springtown, Texas where they were longtime members of the Springtown Church of Christ. After Berk’s passing, Nancy moved to Cabot, Arkansas, where she made her home.

Nancy was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Karyn Peterson.

Nancy is survived by her granddaughter, Emily Peterson Bettis, and her husband, Taylor. She is also survived by her stepson, Doug Curlee and his wife Vonda, as well as her step grandchildren: Cody, Caleb, and Caden Curlee, and Caitlin (Will) Bates.

Nancy is also survived by her five sisters: Sharen Crockett; Susan Mitchell and her husband, Larry; Jane Archer; Jill Hopkins and her husband, Steve; and Lori Arnold and her husband, Dan. She treasured her sisters and the special bond they shared. She was also loved by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Nancy was a spunky lady with a love for life and a personality that made her unforgettable. She enjoyed bowling, listening to music, cheering on the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys, and especially watching her family members play ball. She had a green thumb and loved growing plants of all kinds. She also adored her beloved dog, Molly.

Nancy showed incredible strength throughout a seven-year battle with lung cancer. She faced that journey with courage, determination, and the same spunky spirit that defined her life.

Nancy will be remembered for her strength, her love of family, her spirited personality, and the many lives she touched. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will miss her dearly.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice for the compassionate and dedicated care they provided to Nancy over the last three months.

A memorial service is planned for Thursday, August 13th at 2 PM at the Cabot Church of Christ (500 Second St. Cabot AR).
