

Darryl was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Robert Josselyn Barton, Sr. and Arlyne Emma (Brown) Barton on August 24, 1945. With the exception of his very early years which were spent in Vermont Darryl grew up in Arlington, Texas, attending public schools, with graduation from Arlington High School in 1963, where he was a member of the National Honor Society. He also attained the rank of Eagle Scout during his high school years. He attended Wheaton College in Illinois and graduated from the University of Arlington after which he received his ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary.
After his ordination , he married Paula Kay Curtis on May 19th, 1973. From an early age Darryl knew he was called to the ministry. They immediately headed to Oregon where Darryl was a Youth Pastor at Pony Village Presbyterian Church for 2 years. God then led Darryl and Paula to Gulfport MS where Darryl pastored at Trinity Church from 1975 until 1989. God then led Darryl and Paula to Kansas City for the next 34 years where he taught at Muncie Christian School, worked at Cabelas and taught again at Overland Christian Schools and Kansas City Christian College. He retired in 2023 and since then has divided his time between his sons’ homes in Portsmouth RI and Royal Arkansas. Darryl was very involved with Young Life Club in Arlington during his seminary years and Calvary Bible Church in Bonner Springs during his Kansas years.
Among Darryl’s great loves was maintaining his website, studying Hebrew, reading JRR Tolkien and playing Shanghai Rummy with family and friends.
Darryl was predeceased by his parents Bob and Lee Barton, brothers: Robert Josselyn Barton Jr. "Dusty" and Thomas John Barton "Tommy".
Darryl is survived by his wife Paula, Sons: David Christopher Barton (Ana), Geoffrey Curtis Barton (Ameryst), Brother: Jefrey George Barton (Debi) Sister: Candace Barton Wilhite (Ben), Sister-in-laws Colleen Barton and Sherry Barton. Grandchildren: Alana Isobel Barton, Daniel Christopher Barton and Dodge Alexander Barton. Nephews: JB Barton and Benjamin Robert Wilhite. Nieces: Shannon Barton, Kizzi Danh and Cara Barton.
